Business Friction Lets get it sorted
Do you ever feel like work is getting harder – both in terms of what you’re doing and how you’re doing it? You’re not alone.
We’re talking about the concept of business friction.
What do we mean by friction?
Friction is a force that hold backs movement, it slows you down. It causes your effort and energy to be dissipated in ways that don’t help you maintain momentum, acceleration, or direction. In short, it makes it harder to get the results you want.
You want to ensure you have as little friction as possible in your business.
How do you remove friction?
There are three sources of friction in your business.
Work friction – what you do, and how you do it. It may not be done in the most appropriate, efficient, or effective way. Just because you’ve always done it this way, doesn’t mean you should continue. Look to continually improve both what you do and how you do it.

Customer friction
In this case, customers are not clear on where, why or how they’re going with you. Or they’re distracted and you’re not a priority. As a result, they are not coming along with you as and when you would like them to. They go slower than you’d like, they stall or fall away, or you don’t realise the upside you seek when you engage with them. You need to make it easy for them to move along a certain pathway from being a lead or prospect to becoming a client and an advocate and fan.
You need to help them stay focused and help them understand why you are a priority for them.
Systems and processes friction
You may lack them, fail to follow them or they may not be suitable. It may be that your business, environment, or clients have changed and you haven’t adapted accordingly and your systems and processes make it harder for you to get results. Is it time to engage external sources to remove your friction?
You may need to review your systems and processes and determine if they are delivering the results you want or need. What steps are involved? Are they all necessary or do they provide value? Minimise friction by looking at how you can minimise the steps involved.
Think about what you’ve got to do to reduce friction for yourself, your clients, and in your systems and processes.
If you make them frictionless you make it easier to do business with you.
