Five Tips to Make Your Messages Persuasive and Actionable

Client & Prospect Engagement

A client was asking me the other day how they could become more persuasive in their messaging. They wanted to engage prospects and clients to take action.

And let’s be honest: ‘who doesn’t?

The problem is that a lot of people are putting out a lot of messages. It’s very noisy.
So, how do you make yours stand out?

How do you make it persuasive so that it results in prospects being progressed along your sales pipeline?
Your message needs to do five things. Those are:

Address customer needs

You must make it clear that you understand them. Address them transparently and clearly in your message.

Speak to the heart

Your message needs to evoke emotions in your customers. Logic makes people think, emotions make them act.

Have great copy

Well-written content stands out and engages their attention. Come up with a great headline. This will get the reader’s attention and get them to take the next step, which is to read the first sentence and paragraph. If this catches their interest, it will take them to the next paragraph and so on until they reach the end of the content.

Share something helpful

Your insights, your expertise, and the value that you can provide should form the basis of any message. Leave your prospects and clients thinking “that was really useful, it helped me. That was fantastic.”

Have a clear call to action

Put this at the end of your message. Tell them or invite them what you want them to do next. Make it easy for them, normally it should be nothing more than just a “click here”, and it will take them to whatever the next step is.

Conclusion

These simple building blocks will help you to form a persuasive message, one that moves you forward and will fill your sales pipeline or get your leads moving along it. First, address their needs. Second, speak to the heart. Third, engage their attention. Fourth, share insights, expertise, and value. And finally, have a strong and simple call to action.
